Meet Rachel Parker

My mom and I in Amsterdam. “r” for Rachel and “d” for Diana!

Hi everyone! My name’s Rachel Parker and I’m a post production and social media intern for Kirschenbaum Productions! I’m a recent graduate of Quinnipiac University with a major in Film, Video, and Interactive Media and a minor in Fine Art. During my junior year, I spent a semester abroad in London and visited 7 countries in three months. Needless to say, it was life changing! I was born and raised in the suburbs of New Jersey and yes, I’m one of those people who’s REALLY proud to be from Jersey (although I wouldn’t say I’ve hit Snooki status).

Sometimes I’m embarrassed to admit this (then I realize how minimal my obsession is compared to those people on that show, My Strange Obsession) but I love my car. I drive a black 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. Her name is Keesha and I find myself talking to her more than any sane person probably would. I guess it’s a subconscious feeling of security, knowing that I’m safe when I’m driving!

ImageSpeaking of driving, I’d have to say that one of my biggest pet peeves is definitely speed bumps. SOMETIMES, they are completely necessary at which point, I don’t mind them. BUT, when speed bumps are in unnecessary places (ex: parking garages or college campuses) I just can’t help but get angry. In my opinion, if you need a speed bump to remind you to slow down, you might not want to be driving.

Like Michael, I’ll also admit that I love the majority of songs on the Top 40. But my taste in music ranges all over the spectrum. I love listening to other people’s iPods and hearing a little piece of their minds. I’m a true believer that music and mood go hand in hand. In addition to listening to music, I’m an avid musician. I grew up taking private piano lessons at home then stopped when I was around 10 to begin playing the drums. In addition to my school lessons, I took private drum lessons for around 6 years. And within the last 3 years I have taught myself completely independently how to play the guitar. I think it is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever accomplished. I hope to someday work as a camera operator, editor, or photographer.

Playing for my summer band “Femme Fatale” at Campus Kids NJ.

I think that’s enough about me for now…hopefully I haven’t scared you away from our blog! I promise we will have a full range of posts from fun and funny to serious and inspiring so stick around! If you have any pet peeves, feel free to reply and vent! I’m here for you, no matter how ridiculous or completely unjustified your peeve may be!

Have a great day :]
