Hello! I’m Diana Kantor, and I’m a post-production intern at Kirschenbaum Productions! I am currently a junior Saint Peter’s University. I’m a major in Communications as well as a Minor in English and Asian Studies.
Back in high school, I was a highly active amateur voice actor. I would provide voices for all kinds of audio plays and the like. Having been a writer my whole life, I became interested in making an audio play myself, and began to teach myself audio mixing (using Audacity, the most limited sound program I’ve ever seen, but it was free, so it was within my nonexistent budget!) When I edited sound, it made me feel something that I had never felt before. It was almost as if I was more ‘me’ when I was editing, and I could get lost for hours just looking at sound waves, clipping them down to the millisecond. It was obvious to me that this was something I wanted to pursue as a career. I had thought about many career choices at that point, but nothing felt so obviously right as sound editing. Upon entering university, I decided that I would look into video editing as well, since versatility is always a good thing. So, I took a few classes that involved both filming and editing with Final Cut Pro. This other side to the production process captivated me just as much as voice acting and sound editing had! The further down into the rabbit hole called production I went, the more I wanted to stay in Wonderland! So now I’m here, at Kirschenbaum Productions, learning more about the field that I continue to love more and more with each passing day.
But of course there is more to me than just film! I also love to write. I’ve always written stories, poems, and scripts since I was a little kid, and I guess that I just never stopped. The same thing goes for singing. I remember my parents telling me stories of how I would imitate my sister’s singing before I even knew how to speak.
I’ve gotten a chance to do something with my love for writing and singing, and even my love of video games! By some stroke of luck, or perhaps even fate, I ended up as a member of an independent game team called Coded Emotion. I get to write lyrics and sing songs for their original soundtrack, which is such a great experience!
Another thing that I love to do is to cook, and to try new foods. Growing up, my mother always gave me opportunities to try foods from different countries, and because of that I love most kinds of foods. I’m one of those people who will buy something at the supermarket just because it looks weird. (And then my friends will stare at me like I’m crazy) I’ll probably never be as good a cook as my mom is, but it still makes me happy to hear people making yummy noises after eating my cooking. It’s one of my little joys in life.
Now, I could go on and on about myself (and I’d love to too!), but I’m not writing an entire auto-biography here! I’ll be making more blog posts in the future, so if you want to get to know me more, then please take a look! It’ll be great to share stories with you all!
